
Graham Potter appointed: Sky reporter shares when he’ll meet West Ham players
Graham Potter will meet the West Ham United players “later today”, Rob Dorsett revealed on Thursday.
The journalist reported via Sky Sports News that Potter will oversee his first training session as the Irons head coach on 9 January.
This will be the former Chelsea manager’s only session before the East London outfit’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday, 10 January.
Graham Potter replaces Julen Lopetegui at West Ham
Julen Lopetegui’s future at the London Stadium came under serious threat after the 4-1 loss against Manchester City last Saturday, 4 January.
Talks with Potter quickly gained traction, although there were concerns with the length of the contract on offer.
The Hammers wanted to bring the English tactician on a short-term deal before assessing the situation in the summer.
Although Potter was initially ready to agree to such an arrangement, he changed his stance later on, leaving West Ham with no option but to accept his demand [Daily Mail].

It now remains to be seen if he can turn things around at the London Stadium, with the Irons placed 14th in the Premier League after 20 games. Only seven points separate them from the relegation zone.
West Ham have promised Potter that he will have money to spend on new signings during the ongoing winter transfer window, although they are likely to prioritise loan deals [The Times].
It will be a huge boost to Potter if he can lead the side to a win against Aston Villa in the FA Cup in his first game in charge of them.
