Andy Goldstein was stunned after Darren Bent reminded him of West Ham United's 2-0 win over Newcastle United last month.

With Julen Lopetegui under immense pressure at this point, Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were the Spaniard's saviours as the Hammers claimed all three points on Monday 25 November.

While the head coach is not yet out of the woods, a 2-1 win over Wolves last time out has seen the team move six points above the relegation zone before facing Bournemouth on Monday 16 December.

As Bent mentioned the unexpected result at St James' Stadium via talkSPORT [16 December], Goldstein said: "Yes, that was very bizarre."

Lopetegui has a real chance to change his fortunes in East London following a very difficult start to life as David Moyes' successor, especially if he can build on the win against Wolves.

However, Bournemouth are in brilliant form this season, rising to seventh in the Premier League after 15 matches, so it will not be an easy battle at the Vitality Stadium.

With games against Brighton and Southampton coming up after, the Spaniard needs as many points as possible before facing back-to-back matches against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Being six points above the relegation zone is totally unacceptable for a club like West Ham, and if they get any closer to the dropzone, David Sullivan may have to pull the trigger on his tenure already.

History would suggest good news before their trip to the coast, given they have only lost one of the last seven meetings in the Premier League, but their contrasting forms could see that trend rebuffed.

Lopetegui must ensure his team put up a massive fight for all three points. His job could depend on a decent performance at the Vitality Stadium.
