Glen Johnson shares West Ham United relegation verdict ahead of Tottenham clash
Former West Ham defender Glen Johnson has admitted that it is “frustrating” to watch West Ham right now as they battle against relegation.
The Hammers sit just two points above the relegation zone with just six wins all season, and face a huge clash against rivals Tottenham on Sunday (19 February) to try and extend their unbeaten run to four games.
And speaking to Football.London (17 February), Sky Sports pundit Johnson was asked if he believes David Moyes’ side can avoid the drop and he admitted that he feels that the team do have enough to string results together and pull away.

“I think they will, it’s typical West Ham sometimes because they’ll beat Man United and then they will lose what feels like a relatively simple home game,” he said.
“It’s frustrating to watch, but once they string a couple of performances together I think they have got enough to stay out of it.
“Fingers crossed they do because they spent half of last year in the top four, so it’s totally flipped on its head. But hopefully, they can go on a little run and pull away.”
Quietly
West Ham are still in a relegation battle, make no mistake about it, regardless of the fact the noise surrounding it has disappeared in recent weeks.
As it stands the Hammers have picked up good results in the last three games, beating Everton then drawing with high-flying Newcastle and a struggling Chelsea side.

However all of that has only moved the team two points away from the relegation zone and with a big game against Tottenham this weekend and Leeds playing Everton this weekend, there is a chance that we could be back in the relegation zone if results go against us.
We have to get back to the form we had last season, where we were incredibly hard to beat but also ruthless in attack and competitive all over the pitch.
That has to start this weekend, otherwise the confidence around the Irons getting away from the relegation battle will quickly disappear too.
