Gianluca Scamacca West Ham United exit stalls as Roma identify cheaper alternative
Roma have identified Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a cheaper alternative to West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (26 July) that Calvert-Lewin would cost 50 per cent less than Scamacca.
Moreover, the Everton striker would arrive at the Italian club on loan without any large initial expenses, the Daily Mail added.

“Roma need a striker and cannot repeat the same mistakes made in the transfer market last summer,” according to the Daily Mail.
“Considering their difficulties in getting Gianluca Scamacca out of West Ham, Calvert-Lewin is considered to be an excellent second choice.
“The difference between the two players is above all linked to the price: the Everton forward could cost 50 per cent less than the Italian centre-forward and would arrive on loan without large initial expenses.”

Transfer blow
This latest development from Roma could potentially come as a blow to Scamacca, who might just have his heart set on a return to Italy and a return to his former club.
The striker spent time in the Italian capital as a youth player with both Roma and Lazio, and now seemingly has a chance to return to his homeland this summer following a frustrating debut season in England.
He really failed to hit the heights expected of him in East London, although he certainly isn’t the first attacker to find himself in such a situation.
There may still be hope at the London Stadium that the Italian can turn his career around in claret and blue, but for now the most likely scenario is the player going back to Serie A, either on loan or permanently.
West Ham aren’t exactly flush with options in the final third, but the same can be said of Roma after the long-term injury to Tammy Abraham.
In other West Ham news, one pundit has told the Hammers to wait until next summer to sign a wantaway Celtic star.
