Gianluca Scamacca talks held as West Ham United striker ‘hottest name’ for Inter Milan

Talks have been held at Inter Milan for the transfer of West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian publication reported on its website on Sunday (30 July) that the 24-year-old is the “hottest name” for the Serie A club.

Scamacca, who only joined the Hammers from Sassuolo last summer, scored eight goals in his debut season in England.

Ongoing saga

The future of the West Ham and Italy forward has been up in the air for quite some time now, but it does seem that his days in East London are numbered.

Hammers boss David Moyes should, however, be reluctant to lose the striker at this moment in time, regardless of his struggles last season.

First and foremost, countless players have come to the Premier League and failed to hit the heights expected of them in their debut campaign.

It takes different players different amounts of time to settle, and it may simply be the case that Scamacca will come alive if he is given another go at things at the London Stadium.

There is, however, also the issue of a lack of attacking options at the club, with the futures of Danny Ings and Michail Antonio also not 100% certain.

Youngster Divin Mubama looks set to be among the first-team more regularly next season, but perhaps Moyes will delve into the transfer market for a more senior striker.

In other West Ham news, a pundit has questioned the club’s move for one Premier League player as a Moyes sack verdict is shared.
