Gianluca Scamacca may have already sealed West Ham United departure amid new social media development

West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca may now have already sealed his departure from the club after what he did on his Instagram account.

According to a report from Romagiallorossa (25 July), the Hammers have accepted a loan offer from AS Roma of around £3million for the 24-year-old which includes an obligation to buy for between £17.2 and £18million if certain conditions are met.

One of these conditions includes the Serie A side qualifying for the Champions League as well as appearance and goal-related targets for the Italian international.

Scamacca has long been said to be keen on a move back to his native country and has already agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s side and the Italian may have given the biggest hint of an impending move after what he did on his Instagram account.

The former Sassuolo striker removed the writing “West Ham player” from his Instagram profile, which has also been identified by Italian outlet Calciomercato (26 July).

This development follows him admitting in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport on 12 July that it would be his “dream” to play under Roma boss Jose Mourinho and the £35.5m 2022 summer addition liked a photo of the fans that was posted on the Serie A club’s Twitter page, with the caption “Giallorossa is unique”.

It seems as if the transfer saga between Scamacca, West Ham and Roma might almost be finally over, although the deal is not quite yet complete but the Italian hitman has already provided some subtle hints about the potential London Stadium exit is progressing.

The more this transfer saga unfolds, the clearer it becomes that Scamacca’s heart is already very much in Italy and that he is desperate to secure a move back there.

After the change of his agents and plenty of speculation regarding his future in East London, it’s looking increasingly likely that the former Sassuolo forward will move on this summer and West Ham United could well be making a costly error here.

As shown in pre-season already, Scamacca still has plenty to offer David Moyes and the East Londoners and it will be rather annoying to see West Ham waste their £35m-plus investment on a player who possesses such significant bags of potential.

Scamacca is a superb talent and a player with a raft of potential to thrive in the future, for which the £35m will have turned out to be an absolute bargain should he succeed, and if there is any chance of him getting a second chance at the club, the Hammers must certainly consider it.

For now, though, it looks incredibly unlikely that he will be a West Ham United player once their season kicks off against Bournemouth on 12 August.

And it is imperative the Hammers have a contingency plan lined up all David Moyes may find his squad desperately short on quality, with fellow forward Michail Antonio looking set to depart also.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes and Tim Steidten may already be stuck in a transfer rift.
