Ghanaian media slam West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus after ‘humiliating’ defeat

Ghanaian media has slammed West Ham ace Mohammed Kudus who “barely had a sniff” as the Black Stars were smashed 4-0 by the United States on Wednesday 18 October.

Kudus played his part in Ghana’s heavy defeat on Wednesday morning, with an awful performance ranked at 4/10, leading to the game being described as “humiliating” by GhanaWeb.

While he received some praise for an incredible moment in which he nearly scored a consolation goal for his side, the overall reaction to his performance was negative and cutting.

GhanaWeb, the leading digital news platform in Ghana, ranked the players out of ten after the humiliating defeat, and laid into Kudus in particular: “The West Ham man had yet another quiet game,” they wrote.

“He struggled to get past his marker and barely had a sniff at goal. However, he almost got the consolation for Ghana with an incredible strike, but the goalkeeper made a great save.”

A poor display

Ghana were awful in the 4-0 defeat, falling to four first-half goals, with Kudus offering very little to help his side hold their ground or provide any respite for the struggling defence by way of an attacking threat or providing any help going forward.

The wording of the criticism of his performance as “yet another” poor display is interesting, and hints that the Hammers ace has been struggling in a Ghana shirt for a while.

The West Ham ace was dragged off after 75 minutes, but his display during that time gave the manager ample reason to do so. With a 0% crossing accuracy, 0% dribble success rate, just one duel won from four attempts, and having given the ball away 12 times, it was a night to forget for Kudus. [Sofascore]

It was an awful performance by Kudus and Ghana by all accounts, leaving the national media reeling in the disgrace of the performance.
