Gary Lineker sends best wishes to West Ham favourite Michail Antonio on MOTD
Gary Lineker sent his best wishes to West Ham forward Michail Antonio on Match of the Day after the striker was involved in an car accident on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham released a statement early Saturday evening (7 December) confirming that Antonio is in a “stable condition” after an accident earlier in the day.
Supporters, players and ex-pros have been sending their best wishes to the Jamaica international, including Jamie O’Hara, who was delighted to hear the positive news from the club.
Match of the Day presenter Lineker echoed the sentiments on Saturday night’s show [7 December].
He said: “We’d like to send our best wishes to West Ham’s Michail Antonio, who’s in stable condition following a road traffic accident. Here’s hoping for a full and speedy recovery.”
Football family come together to support West Ham star Michail Antonio
Football is known for its deep routed allegiances and banter among fanbases, but one thing that always shines brighter is the togetherness at times when allegiances become irrelevant.
This incredibly saddening event saw that togetherness prevail with supporters from all across the country sending their best wishes to Antonio and expressing serious empathy for what happened.
Footballers are humans at the end of the day and that often gets forgotten in the world of sport, but it has been a massive positive to see the community come together in times of need.

All eyes will be on the club’s official X account for hopefully further positive news surrounding his condition in the coming hours or days.
Attention will be on the encounter at the London Stadium on Monday (9 December) when West Ham face Wolves in the ‘El-Sackico’ and there will undoubtedly be a huge reception for Antonio from both supporters before the game.
In other West Ham news, two managers have been offered to the Irons if they opt to sack Lopetegui.
