Gary Lineker reacts to West Ham win after what MOTD showed v Southampton
Gary Lineker has credited Jarrod Bowen after the West Ham United skipper’s impact in securing a valuable away win at Southampton.
The Hammers’ talisman popped up with a crucial second-half winner at St Mary’s as Lineker, speaking on BBC Match of the Day [26 December, 1:18:35], lauded his contribution once again.
Alan Shearer agreed, complimenting the consistency of Bowen and the professional example he has set since arriving at the London Stadium.
“No managerial bounce for Saints, but a big win for West Ham. And Jarrod Bowen popped up with the winner – he’s been a really important player for them, hasn’t he?”, Lineker said.
“Yes, for five years since he’s been there – and he’s been really consistent,” agreed Shearer.
Jarrod Bowen delivers for West Ham United again
Bowen has been a beacon of light through several different chapters in West Ham United’s recent history.
Having delivered consistently during the David Moyes era and played such a huge part in securing European glory in the 2023 Conference League, the skipper will always be fondly thought of.
Bowen also appears settled in East London and it is reflecting in his football, even despite some of the links involving clubs who could offer more lucrative sums.

He is the Irons’ representative in the England squad and has shown other players that they can achieve regular games for their illustrious national teams when playing well in the claret and blue.
Bowen’s versatile skillset showed itself again at Southampton, with a striker’s instinct which has developed during his time in the Premier League earning he and his club the decisive goal.
