Gary Lineker gives his blunt verdict on West Ham United

Gary Lineker provided Twitter with his blunt verdict on West Ham after the Hammers scored to go 3-1 against Liverpool on Sunday evening.

David Moyes’ side had been pegged back by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick following an Alison own goal. However, seven minutes after Pablo Fornals’ 67th-minute strike, Kurt Zouma headed in from a corner to make it 3-1, prompting Lineker to take to Twitter.

The Match of the Day presenter didn’t exactly complicate his view, instead opting to give his opinion plainly and simply via his Twitter account, saying: “West Ham are a very good side.”

He’s not wrong

Ironically, seven minutes after that Tweet, Liverpool halved their deficit through Divock Origi. But, having eventually seen out a famous 3-2 win you’d have say that Lineker isn’t wrong; he’s not wrong at all.

The visit of one of the best – or, in Moyes’ words, the best – sides in the world is a daunting prospect, to say the least. But on Sunday evening, West Ham displayed their resilience, maturity, flexibility and outright quality in the face of petrifying opposition.

West Ham

With the victory, the Hammers leapfrogged Jurgen Klopp’s side at the top of the table, placing themselves third in the Premier League table – undeniably the best way to prove their worth in the position they’re currently in.

They’re a side capable of multiple styles and tactical nuances, a side built around a core of collective responsibility, and a side displaying the qualities of destined achievers.

With the form they’re demonstrating at the moment, there really are very few limits. As Lineker says, they’re a very good side.

In other West Ham news, Jarrod Bowen could be in line for a move to Liverpool.
