Garth Crooks in awe of West Ham defender Craig Dawson
Gareth Crooks has showered praise on West Ham defender Craig Dawson for his “mature” performance in the 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday in the Premier League.
Dawson was brilliant alongside Kurt Zouma at the back, making his 28th appearance in the league this season.
He is getting better with age, like old wine, and Crooks has suggested that the 31-year-old never lets his team down.

“This player is about as professional as it gets. Craig Dawson gave what was another mature performance against an Everton side who had their moments,” said Crooks to BBC Sport.
“Dawson has been around for some time but I can’t recall the defender ever letting one of his clubs down. Yes he has made the occasional error, haven’t we all, but he’s been one of the most consistent defenders in the game.
“West Ham currently find themselves flying high in the league and competing in the latter stages of the Europa League and Dawson looks totally at ease with it all.”
Consistency
Dawson has been the epitome of consistency throughout the campaign. He has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing two assists.
He is in a way an unsung hero for the Hammers, but it’s good to see that he is getting his due praise from football pundits.
He was solid against the Toffees, where he made one tackle and four clearance, as per Who Scored.

The Hammers have gone through a phase this season where their defence was reduced to bare bones with injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.
Dawson consistently produced top-level performances during that period.
Having said that, West Ham still need to sign a new defender in the summer. Ogbonna is set to return to action next season, but another young defender would be a welcome addition.
The victory on Sunday keeps the Hammers in contention for European places. They will face Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday.
