Gareth Southgate considering giving Jarrod Bowen first international call-up

Gareth Southgate is considering giving West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen his first international call up if his form continues, according to the Evening Standard.

The England manager has been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old since the new Premier League season started, and was impressed enough to put him on standby for a call up before naming his squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.

The Hammers forward is yet to score or assist a league goal this term, but his work rate has caught the eye of Southgate.

West Ham

Huge

Bowen has established himself as a key player for West Ham since his arrival from Hull City in January 2020, and he definitely has what it takes to force his way into England’s star-studded attack.

With Southgate watching him regularly, the player will be inspired to impress in order to make the next squad and break into the team ahead of next year’s World Cup.

In David Moyes, Bowen has a manager capable of further bringing out the best in him, and playing European football this season would help expose him and give him more experience that would come in handy in his bid to become an England international.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is another one who has been keeping tabs on the Hammers ace.

West Ham United

The Athletic revealed last month that the Reds were keen on making a summer move, and while that is now off the cards, he remains on their radar ahead of next summer.

Bowen is definitely doing something right to be attracting attention, and West Ham could struggle to hold on to him for much longer if he keeps improving at this rate.
