Gabby Agbonlahor shares David Moyes exit verdict at West Ham United in Ruben Amorim admission

West Ham United manager David Moyes will leave the London Stadium, but Ruben Amorim won’t take the Irons job, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

The Scotsman’s current deal with the Hammers expires at the end of the season, but it is increasingly likely he will not extend his stay with potential successors already contacted by those in charge in East London.

Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim jetted to London to hold talks with the Irons but it seems unlikely he will take over the reins from Moyes and Agbonlahor believes the Portuguese manager won’t have been encouraged by his meeting.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (25 April, 8:51) he said: “I think so [Moyes will leave] and I think that meeting Al, managers nowadays want to know what control they’ll have, what players have they got, what will they have to spend?

“Sometimes those conversations they don’t agree so maybe Ruben Amorim says no not for me, I’d rather stay in Lisbon and wait for another job.”

Will David Moyes leave West Ham United at the end of the Premier League season?

Moyes has been a divisive figure throughout his tenure at the London Stadium and it feels like the fanbase’s patience has worn thin this season and the majority of supporters are now ready for a change in the dugout.

West Ham have the talent in their ranks to play an exciting and attacking brand of football, but under the 61-year-old, they continue to play in a defensive manner that has become frustrating, particularly against the biggest sides.

Ruben Amorim
Amorim has struggled to adapt to the Premier League.

There is a belief that a more front-footed younger manager would be able to get more out of this current crop of players and that could well be what sees Moyes lose his job. It doesn’t appear that man will be Amorim, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a change in the dugout.

Hopefully, some clarity will emerge at the London Stadium sooner rather than later as this amount of uncertainty cannot be good for anybody involved.

Plans need to be in place for the summer and next season and that is hard to do when you don’t know who will be in charge.
