Gabby Agbonlahor gets it all wrong after what he’s just said about West Ham fans
West Ham fans have been left far from impressed with the start to the season.
Graham Potter had come under scrutiny as West Ham boss after falling to three consecutive defeats to begin the new campaign at the London Stadium.
The general feeling around Potter and his side have improved somewhat after West Ham secured a 3-0 away win against Nottingham Forest last time out.
An excellent performance from Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta, after links with a move to Aston Villa, secured a much-needed three points for the claret and blue faithful.
With that being said, supporters have since made their feelings of negativity around the E20 club clear, much to the confusion of Gabby Agbonlahor.

Gabby Agbonlahor reacts to West Ham fan statement
It is fair to say that annoyance is rife among the fan base in East London after what has been a difficult few seasons under both Julen Lopetegui and Potter.
This is especially the case for the latter, especially after West Ham were battered 5-1 against Chelsea before throwing away a 2-1 lead late on against Wolves in the Carabao Cup.
Date | Opponent | Result |
16/08/25 | Sunderland (A) | 3-0 (L) |
22/08/25 | Chelsea (H) | 1-5 (L) |
26/08/25 | Wolves (A) | 3-2 (L) |
31/08/25 | Nottingham Forest (A) | 0-3 (W) |
These showings have pushed many fans to their breaking point and has resulted in the official supporters group issuing a vote of no confidence towards the board.
An open letter addressed to shareholders David Sullivan, Vanessa Gold, Daniel Kretinsky and Tripp Smith has hit out at an “ageing and uncompetitive squad” at the London Stadium.
With supporters threatening to boycott in E20, Agbonlahor has spoken out in his annoyance due to their treatment of David Moyes towards the end of his tenure as Hammers boss.
“It doesn’t help when the majority of the fans were forcing the board to get rid of David Moyes after the fantastic job he did,” said Agbonlahor via talkSPORT on 4 September.
He went on to add: “We were speaking on here, saying ‘hang on a second, he’s won you the Conference League and back-to-back top-10 finishes’. Now look at you.”
West Ham fans right to raise concerns
There is an element of truth to what Agbonlahor has said in regards to the treatment of Moyes, but his hiring is part of the problem in East London.
The fact that the Scot was hugely successful helps his reputation, but he was brought in to save the Irons from relegation, it wasn’t some sort of stroke of genius from the board.
The former Manchester United man happened to be available, and as a result, Sullivan brought him in without having to pay a release fee.
That has also been the case with Lopetegui in Potter, something which the supporters are taking issue with, alongside the hugely frustrating recruitment policy.
