Gabby Agbonlahor believes West Ham United’s Declan Rice is worth £120m

Gabby Agbonlahor believes West Ham midfielder Declan Rice’s current value is £120million and suggests the England international “offers everything”

Rice has been the subject of intense transfer speculation of late with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly keen on the 23-year-old [Football London, 23 May].

Furthermore, the Hammers offered Rice an eight-year deal [talkSPORT, 11 May] in a desperate attempt to secure his long-term future with the club.

Regardless of the speculation, Agbonlahor believes the West Ham man is worth over £100million.

Talking on talkSPORT EDGE on Sunday [5 June], Agbonlahor said: “I think Declan Rice has three years left on his contract, which means he is a £120million player. 100 per cent.

“He offers everything in the centre of midfield, if Rice got told to play number ten he could play there.”

Maximum value now

The former Aston Villa striker isn’t far off with his valuation of Rice.

However, the Hammers must realise that cashing in on the England man this summer would see them maximise transfer fee they could command for the midfielder’s services.

Every day his contract creeps closer to its conclusion will mean his value decreases.

West Ham

David Moyes and the club hierarchy need to assess how crucial Rice is to his West Ham side.

If they could land a fee of over £100million for Rice then there is potential for Moyes to reinvest and make his side a far more rounded outfit.

It is up to the club to weigh up how important the England man is to their plans.

If the Hammers want to harbour any hope of keeping the England international then they should be looking to invest heavily this summer in their depleted squad.

Rice could be tempted to stay at the club if the Hammers show some ambition in the transfer market and actively look to turn themselves into a serious top-six contender.
