Gabby Agbonlahor claims West Ham United ‘need to win’ v Nottingham Forest

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed West Ham need to win against Nottingham Forest as fans won’t accept their recent poor run of form continuing.

The Hammers have sunk six points outside of the current top seven in the Premier League, and the former Aston Villa striker has claimed fans will not be happy with the way the season is going.

Agbonlahor also compared the positions of the two teams in the table, with West Ham in 13th as things stand and their opponents two places below in 15th, with just one point separating them.

Agbonlahor was speaking live on talkSPORT [11 November, 19:22] when he shared his view: “Look at the table, you wouldn’t believe that there’s one point separating them. Forest on 13 points, West Ham on 14. It’s a big game, you know? West Ham need to win this.

“West Ham fans won’t accept losing their last three games and being how far out of the top seven… Six points. They won’t accept that.

“I think Bowen, Benrahma, Paqueta, Kudus, I think will have enough to beat Nottingham Forest.”

Somehow this has become a must-win

After their fast start to the season, compared to Forest’s slow start, it’s a damning indictment of the way the season has gone in recent weeks that this has become a must-win game for West Ham in terms of league position and the potential to move forward.

Three league losses in a row have seen the Hammers sink lower down the table, and while the bottom three have been cut adrift, a Forest win on Sunday, and other results going against them, could see West Ham drop as low as 15th.

Agbonlahor is right, the fans won’t be happy if this form continues. Frustrations have already started to build up, largely directed at David Moyes and his management, but if these results continue then what may currently be a vocal minority could become a loud majority.

Moyes’ job has come under pressure in recent weeks, and a loss to Forest would only compile that misery, with the Hammers board still deciding on whether or not to offer the Scot a new deal.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers received a boost in their bid to sign a Brazilian star.
