Fulham want West Ham United defender Ryan Fredericks, cheaper alternative than Neco Williams

West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks is wanted by London rivals Fulham, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported in their print edition (19 June, page 147) that the Cottagers see Fredericks as a “cheaper alternative” than Neco Williams who is rated at £15 million by Liverpool.

Fredericks has other options, with The Mail on Sunday (June 12th, page 144) reporting that Middlesbrough are interested in taking him, while Bournemouth want him as well (The Sun, 15 June).

Makes sense

Fredericks is likely to leave the Hammers on a free transfer, and there is no shortage of admirers.

The right-back is also entering the latter stages of his career as he approaches 30 and the Hammers have made the right call by not offering him a new deal.

He dropped down the pecking order at the club behind Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson, and the natural conclusion was that he should be left out for the new season.

Of all the clubs, a move to Fulham should appeal to him.

He would continue to stay in London, while would still continue in the Premier League. Bournemouth is another fantastic option for him where he could reunite with Scott Parker.

The Cottagers are looking to add a right-back to their ranks, and have earmarked Williams for that role. However, Fredericks is not only more experienced than him but would also come as a free signing.
