Frank Lampard mooted at West Ham United with trouble close for Julen Lopetegui
Richard Keys has mooted Frank Lampard as a potential option to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United.
The broadcaster admitted he has no sympathy for the Irons after they dumped David Moyes and sit fourteenth in the Premier League so far.
Keys has suggested Lampard as a possible replacement for Lopetegui, with trouble brewing at the London Stadium, it seems.
“There’s clearly trouble at Wolves and West Ham”, Keys wrote in his blog on 4 November.
“West Ham’s problems are all of their own making and I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for them. It’ll get worse there before it gets better.
“They’re certainly going in another direction since forcing David Moyes out. It’s just not the one they wanted to go in. Frank Lampard?”
Replacing Julen Lopetegui with Frank Lampard would be disastrous for West Ham United
Keys has always been vocal about his admiration for Moyes and, understandably, he is upset West Ham decided to move on from the Scot, but his Lampard suggestion is laughable.
While the Englishman received plaudits for his spell as Derby manager in his initial coaching days, he did not do anything of note with Chelsea and Everton.
It is worth noting that the Toffees won only 12 of their 44 games during the 46-year-old’s stint at Goodison Park. His spell as Chelsea’s caretaker manager towards the end of the 2022-23 season was also poor as he mustered only 0.45 points per match.

Hiring Lampard would be a disastrous move from West Ham and fortunately, it is unlikely the club will look in that direction anyway.
The Hammers have told Lopetegui that he could face the axe if results do not improve immediately (The Times), with Edin Terzic mooted as a candidate to replace the Spaniard.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have made a £30million offer for this international striker
