Finance Expert issues criminal charges admission on West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta
There is a possibility of West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta facing criminal charges as that has happened for spot-fixing cases, according to Stefan Borson.
The finance expert claims that it is likely that the FA will have the betting movements on the other side of the equation where he has been seen picking up yellow cards.
The Brazil international took to Twitter on 23 May to deny the charges, but if found guilty, faces severe repercussions.
Via Twitter, Borson wrote: “Even without certain individual incidents looking clear, the case won’t rely on people simply trying to get into his mind in 4 moments.
“On the commentary of at least 2/4, accumulation of fouls is mentioned. So it is likely the FA have the betting movements on the other side of the equation to add to the incidents.
“If proven, it is super serious – spot fixing is akin to fraud. Not like Tonali/Barton.
“Not impossible – spot fixing has led to criminal charges in the past.”
West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta finds himself in a spot of bother
Borson suggests that the case against Paqueta is likely to be strong, with evidence of betting movements on the other side of the equation to support the charges.
If proven, the consequences for Paqueta could be severe and could potentially lead to criminal charges.
This is a significant departure from previous cases involving players like Sandro Tonali and Joey Barton, which were related to gambling addiction and not spot-fixing.
The gravity of the situation is highlighted by the fact that spot-fixing is considered a serious offence and Paqueta could face a lifetime ban from football if found guilty.
Despite Paqueta’s denial of the charges, the situation remains highly precarious for him.
West Ham fans will undoubtedly be fuming if Paqueta is indeed guilty as that would mean him jeopardising his own team and that would tarnish his reputation forever.
