Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic has cancelled all contact with West Ham United on Saturday, according to Patrick Berger.
The SPORT1 journalist has reported that the Serbian international has an agreement in place with Juventus, as well as a lucrative offer of an extension at Frankfurt on the table.
It is reported that West Ham are now out of the race, with nothing coming after weeks of pushing to get a deal over the line by Rob Newman and David Moyes.
Writing on his personal Twitter account on Saturday morning (06 August), it looks as though the player has finally made up his mind after weeks of talks.
“Filip Kostic has had an agreement with Juventus for weeks,” he wrote.
“However, there has not yet been an official offer from the Italians to Eintracht. Frankfurt wants €15m and bonuses. Furthermore, the Serb has a lucrative offer for an extension.
“He cancelled West Ham.”
This is certainly one of those that we won’t lose any sleep over.
We want players who want to pull on the claret and blue more than anything every single week, and Kostic certainly proved that he isn’t one of those.
Maxwel Cornet has now been announced and we couldn’t be more delighted.
The Ivorian international can play as a winger and a central striker, but more importantly, he can be deployed as a left wing-back and was successfully done so at Lyon.
Moyes and Newman still plan to be busy in the remaining weeks of this window with numerous deals targeted, but one we won’t be seeing arrive is Kostic.
Atleast this saga is over as of today, and we can finally move on to other targets without holding onto the slight hope that the Serbian may change his mind.
West Ham United are going places, and Kostic may look back at this decision in months’ time and really regret making up his mind so early.
