Ferdinand reacts as West Ham United announce new Max Kilman transfer
Anton Ferdinand has sent a welcome message to Max Kilman after West Ham United confirmed his move from Wolves.
The Hammers posted a welcome video to their official Instagram account [6 July] welcoming the 27-year-old to the London Stadium.
Kilman has signed a seven-year deal with the Irons and will reunite with Julen Lopetegui after their time together at Molineux.
Ferdinand wrote: “Welcome to our fantastic club.”
Why West Ham United have signed Max Kilman
It may come as a surprise to some that, despite finishing ninth in the Premier League last season, West Ham were among the worst defensive teams in the league.
Bar the bottom three, the Hammers conceded the most goals over the campaign.
This further outlines that Kilman has no doubt been brought in by Lopetegui to help make the team concede less, thus improving their performance.
In addition, the fact that they have worked with one another previously will also help ensure a smooth transition into the Spaniard’s tactics.

The former Wolves captain has signed for £40million [Fabrizio Romano, 6 July] and has somewhat surprisingly signed that long-term deal with the club.
Having already added three new faces including Wes Foderingham, there’s no doubt that more are coming as Lopetegui looks to better the results of David Moyes.
Sales of some first-team players such as Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma will likely now have to be sanctioned for them to add more quality and depth to their ranks.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are readying themselves for a battle with Wolves for Kelechi Iheanacho.
