Felipe Anderson reacts to West Ham exit after sealing Porto switch

Felipe Anderson has reiterated his desire to return to West Ham United next season after sealing a deadline day exit.

The Brazilian winger joined Porto on a season-long loan after failing to force his way into David Moyes’ Premier League side.

Anderson has had to settle for minutes in the Carabao Cup against the likes of Hull, Charlton and Everton in the past month.

The winger claimed the move to Portugal should help massively, and help prove himself to his doubters back at the London Stadium.

“Playing for Porto, I think it’s a great opportunity for me,” he told talkSPORT.

“Everything has changed, the coronavirus as well and it’s so weird this time and I lost my space at the club. I know I have a lot to show so I think it was the right decision for both sides.

“I have a contract still with West Ham, so next season I’ll be here, so I need to do my best to be back stronger.”

It is no surprise to see Anderson leave, given that he hasn’t lived up to the £36million the Irons spent to sign him from Lazio.

Last season, the 27-year-old only scored once and delivered six assists – which led to the Hammers struggling in the Premier League.

Moyes struggled with injuries, and he was forced to rely on the likes of Michail Antonio as his wingers, such as Anderson didn’t step up.

We have to be honest though, it is great that Anderson appears determined to return and make a difference next season – this loan move may help kickstart his Irons career.
