Fabrizio Romano: West Ham United are ‘really close’ to signing Armando Broja from Chelsea
Armando Broja is “really close” to joining West Ham after they made a £30million offer for the Albanian, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers have been after the 20-year-old striker this summer and look to have finally beaten off competition from Everton, Napoli and Southampton for his signature, with the player flying home from Chelsea’s preseason US tour.
Personal terms have been agreed with the ex-Saints loanee [The Athletic], and with the Irons’ last offer put in on Monday (18 July) it is just a matter now of waiting for Chelsea’s final answer and whether they will insist on certain clauses being added to the deal.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, reliable reporter Romano said: “Armando Broja is really close to joining West Ham. It could be a permanent deal. This is what the player wants and what West Ham are trying to do because West Ham submitted a proposal on Monday.
“The proposal is £30million, add-ons included for Broja. Let’s see if there will be some sell-on clause, some buy-back clause included.
“At the moment waiting for Chelsea’s answer.”
Any day now
West Ham have been close for a while now but they now appear to properly be on the brink of completing a very significant deal.
David Moyes has needed a striker to back up Michail Antonio for 18-months and should now be about to bring in a highly-rated youngster ahead of strong competition.
Not only is it the other teams who tried to sign him that Broja looks to have chosen the Hammers over but Chelsea themselves, with his manager not wanting to sell him.

There could have been new opportunities on offer under Thomas Tuchel with Romelu Lukaku back in Italy, but it appears that Moyes’ overtures have convince the Albania international his future lies at the London Stadium.
It is a statement of intent that will please not only the fans but the no doubt the other players, and if the club can get it over the line to add to Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and the permanent signing of Alphonso Areola they will have strengthened every area of the squad.
There is still more to come and Gianluca Scamacca may even make it two strikers this window.
Crucially, the club look like they are finally turning the tide on the transfer market and coming out on top of fierce battles for players, after losing a number earlier in the year.
