Fabrizio Romano: West Ham still have further talks left with Chelsea defender Emerson
West Ham reportedly still have some discussions left on Emerson’s side as he looks all but set to seal his Chelsea exit.
According to Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers will be having further talks will all parties to seal the deal this weekend.
Once an agreement is reached with the Italy international, there will be a complete agreement and the move can then be made official.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Emerson Palmieri deal is fully agreed between clubs since yesterday, £13m fixed fee plus £2m add-ons. There are still things to discuss on player side. Discussions ongoing between all the parties to complete the agreement.”
Better options there
We still cannot understand why the Hammers are fixated on signing Emerson as there are other left-backs that would be better.
At Chelsea, he proved that he’s not the right fit for the Premier League and cannot be seen as a viable option for West Ham.
The Hammers are recruiting for the long term and not just the short term so we’re unsure what the future is for Emerson at the club.
If he is seen as the first choice option for next three or four seasons then he’s surely going to have to improve on his performances in West London.
We’re hoping that he’s not the same player he was a few seasons ago, but there’s little proof to suggest that things have changed.
If Emerson is still the man, then they need to sign him sooner rather than later and ensure that he can be available for all games after Brighton.
