Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Hotspur not keen on West Ham target Jesse Lingard

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly not understood to be in the race with West Ham to sign Jesse Lingard this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest and the Hammers are locked in a two-way tussle to sign the England international on a free transfer.

Both teams have their proposals submitted to Lingard and the attacker will now be making a decision over his future.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Nottingham Forest have made an important proposal to Jesse Lingard as reported – but West Ham are still in the race with their proposal on the table. 🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 #transfers

“Player decision expected soon, both clubs are on it. Again, Tottenham are not even interested.”

Still a chance?

We’re surprised that he even has to make a decision between Forest and West Ham and it’s borderline ridiculous to be in this race.

If Lingard isn’t convinced by the Hammers’ offer, they need to move on rather than cave to his demands.

He can move to Forest and fight a relegation battle rather than playing European football at the London Stadium and challenging for a top four finish.

Despite his good relationship with David Moyes and playing some of his best football under him, Lingard does not seem to fancy a return to east London.

There are better and younger players out there in the market and the Hammers cannot keep wasting their time behind someone who isn’t completely invested in the move.
