Fabrizio Romano shares what David Moyes said about West Ham United sack today
David Moyes has reacted to the uncertainty over his job at West Ham following a 2-0 Premier League loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday 17 February.
Marking the Hammers’ eighth match without a victory, Moyes’ side were dealt yet another blow as goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi were too much for them at The City Ground.
There has been a lot of speculation over Moyes’ new contract at London Stadium, with no positive update about the extension for several weeks.
Fabrizio Romano took to X on Saturday (17 February) to share Moyes’ reaction, with the Scot saying: “Maybe some fans want a change or maybe they’ve had managers who excite them more possibly…
“But the one who’s sitting here wins more.”
David Moyes running out of time at West Ham
Moyes’ comments after the loss to Forest are certainly not going to win him any fans at West Ham. The Scot deserves recognition for winning the club’s first European trophy in decades, but there is only so long he can live off that.
Fans will be forever thankful for that night in Prague, beating Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final, but the current situation at the club is nowhere near good enough.
The manager’s style of football has been heavily criticised but there are other aspects at play now. The Hammers were flying in the first half of the season, playing the same type of counterattacking football, but it has stopped working and something needs to change.
Those same fans will also be looking at other clubs in the league, who are aiming high to bring in new managers, such as Crystal Palace with Oliver Glasner.
Moyes probably does deserve to keep the job until the summer and attempt to right his wrongs so far, but with European football on the line, that could be a significant risk.
In other West Ham news, Moyes has to go as fans turn on manager with a new song in fan footage.
