Fabrizio Romano sends two-word message to Jarrod Bowen after West Ham United win v Tottenham

Jarrod Bowen scored an all-important equaliser as West Ham beat Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday and the footballing world was quick to praise the goalscorer.

The 26-year-old pounced on an unlucky ricochet before slamming a finish into the roof of the net, cancelling out Cristian Romero’s opener for Spurs and grabbing his ninth league of the season.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reacted to Bowen’s Instagram post after the game, along with teammates Mohammed Kudus and Kurt Zouma.

Fabrizio commented on Instagram (7 December): “Top player.”

Kudus added to the comment section with fire emojis, with Zouma calling the England international a “Playeer”, with a fire emoji.

The man for West Ham

And what a “top player” Bowen has been for West Ham since he arrived from Hull City in 2020. The winger is just three goals short of his league-best of 12, with the majority of the season still left to play.

With an xG of 5.59 in the Premier League this season, Bowen is hugely outperforming how his statistics say he should be playing. A goal every 140 minutes has been crucial to West Ham’s ninth-place current standing.

West Ham

The Hammers’ next-highest scorer this season is Tomas Soucek with four goals. Although David Moyes’ side coped without the star, it was tough to watch them attack without him, especially during their 1-1 draw against Backa Topola in the Europa League.

Moyes has been deploying Bowen in the striker position as of late, with Michail Antonio suffering from injury and Danny Ings not good enough to play. Despite it not being his natural position, he is still starring for the Hammers.

The January transfer window cannot come soon enough, however. A new striker should be a top priority as it would allow Bowen to move back to his preferred winger position.

In other West Ham news, Kieron Dyer has shared his verdict on Moyes’ position at the London Stadium.
