Fabrizio Romano says ‘nothing going on’ between West Ham and Man United for Declan Rice
Fabrizio Romano says there are ‘no negotiations’ going on between West Ham and Manchester United for Declan Rice, but he is top of their list for the summer.
Rice has been linked with a nine-figure transfer away from the London Stadium this summer, with the player admitting he wants to play in the Champions League.
But despite reports that Rice is among the top targets at Old Trafford during the coming transfer window, Romano told Vibe with FIVE that there is ‘nothing going on’ right now.
“I see some names at the moment that are not something concrete, for example Declan Rice,” he said.
“He’s always been top of the list for Man United but there is no negotiation. There is nothing going on with West Ham, so at the moment we can’t say that they are negotiating with Declan Rice.
“He is always at the top of the list but at the moment, and with what David Moyes was saying a couple of days ago, it’s not going to be easy.”
Good news
It’s good to hear that the club aren’t saying one thing in public and then doing another behind the scenes.
West Ham have done a lot over the last two years to build the relationship with the fans to a point where they have helped to push them to a real force in Europe.

Rice is integral to that growth and his valuation may seem high to others but he is legitimately irreplaceable for the Hammers, not only for what he does on the pitch but for everything he stands for.
He would be an incredible addition to any team in the Premier League, so West Ham should be doing absolutely everything they can to be able to keep him at the club.
He still has three years remaining on his contract and there is no pressure for the club to sell, so it will need to be an offer they simply can’t refuse or he will wear the armband again next year.
