Fabrizio Romano: Foreign clubs have enquired about Jesse Lingard

There has been overseas interest in Jesse Lingard, but Fabrizio Romano believes he’s either going to move to West Ham or stay on at Old Trafford.

According to Claret & Hugh, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Lingard that he would like him to stay on at Manchester United, and that the player has been given a deadline of two weeks to make up his mind.

He is scheduled for talks with director of football John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher in the coming days.

West Ham

Discussing the Lingard situation on The United Stand with Mark Goldbridge, Romano said, “Some clubs from other countries were asking about his situation a few days ago. The answer was West Ham or Manchester United.

“West Ham are still in the race. They’re still trying and pushing for Lingard and the player is waiting to see what happens, what will be the proposal.

“I don’t see Manchester United making any discounts for Jesse Lingard just because he’s out of contract in one year. So he’s either extending his contract or they’re selling him for the right price.

“Manchester United are relaxed because they feel if he’s staying then he’s ready to sign a new contract.”

Needless delays

It seems like Lingard is not willing to force his way out of the club which is strange because he’s once again going to be serving the role of an understudy.

West Ham

The fact that Romano says it’s either West Ham or Man United suggests that he is open to a move to the London Stadium, but is still not sure about what he wants.

There’s been an interest from us for a long time and by now he’s had plenty of time to decide where his future lies.

We’re not certain as to what the Manchester outfit want in exchange for his services, but we could try bringing the value down even though Romano says they’re not going to reduce it any further.

If Lingard puts his foot down and tells Murtough and Fletcher that he wants to leave, things will probably be easier.

Even if we aren’t going to sign him, it would be beneficial for everyone to find out right away than to know about it few weeks before the window shuts.
