Fabrizio Romano drops new Ruben Amorim to Chelsea update after West Ham United talks

Chelsea are yet to have concrete contact with Ruben Amorim after his talks with West Ham United ended, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported in his Daily Briefing column (25 April) that the Sporting Lisbon manager is keeping all of his options open after talks with those in charge at the London Stadium failed to advance to anything concrete.

While recent speculation has seen Amorim linked with a move to Chelsea to replace Mauricio Pochettiho, no final decision will be made on the Blues boss’ future until the end of the season, with more clarity expected then.

Discussing the links, Romano wrote: “We’ve seen some reports about Ruben Amorim being linked with Chelsea as a potential replacement for Pochettinho, but I’m not aware of concrete contacts so far, we will see closer to the end of the season.

“For sure, Amorim is keeping all the options open after West Ham talks ended up not advancing to anything concrete. But, again, decisions on Pochettinho will be made at the end of the season, not now.”

Will David Moyes be sacked at West Ham United amid Ruben Amorim links?

For whatever reason, talks between Amorim and the Hammers seemed to stop just as quickly as they had begun, with it now seeming incredibly unlikely that the Sporting boss will take over the reins at the London Stadium.

A final decision still doesn’t appear to have been reached over David Moyes’ future beyond the end of the season and while it seems increasingly likely the two parties will part ways, nothing is set in stone as of yet.

David Moyes will manage West Ham United for the final time against Manchester City on May 19.

This level of uncertainty cannot be good for anybody involved in East London. They simply have to come to a decision and make it clear to the supporters so that they can begin planning for the summer transfer window and next season.

Hopefully, some clarity will emerge sooner rather than later. The Irons will undoubtedly have a long list of potential candidates but it doesn’t appear as though Amorim will be the man in the West Ham dugout.
