Fabrizio Romano drops Lopetegui sack update after West Ham United win
Fabrizio Romano wonders whether West Ham United’s 2-0 victory against Newcastle United on Monday could be the start of Julen Lopetegui’s revival at the London Stadium.
The Hammers travelled to St James’ Park and came away with all three points after a 2-0 victory.
After recent questions surrounding the boss’ tenure at the club, the Spaniard will no doubt have been relieved to pick up a result and take some of the immediate pressure off.
However, Romano is questioning whether this “surprise win” could be the turning point for the 58-year-old in East London.
Could Lopetegui save his West Ham future?
With many expecting the Hammers to go to Newcastle and lose, Lopetegui will be thrilled that his side came away with all three points.
Not only that, but his men executed their game plan brilliantly well and put in a professional display to win the game.
The result has certainly taken some of the weight off the boss’ shoulders and with David Sullivan not having sacked his man so far, you certainly feel that after this result he will remain hesitant to make any quick decisions.

That being said, the Premier League is tough and his side are straight back into the deep end this weekend as they prepare to take on Arsenal.
With the 58-year-old banned from the dugout due to receiving his third yellow card of the season, it will be especially hard for the manager to put his influence on the game throughout.
However, should the Hammers be able to go and produce a result against The Gunners, this could be a big turning point in West Ham’s season.
