Fabrizio Romano: Declan Rice rejects new West Ham United contract, now open to summer exit

Fabrizio Romano has shared crushing news that Declan Rice has rejected a third contract offer from West Ham United.

The reliable journalist has reported that the England international is now open to leaving the London Stadium in the summer.

David Moyes and the Hammers are still insisting that he is still untouchable though, despite this latest news.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano shared the huge update that will no doubt crush many at the club.

“Exclusive: Declan Rice has turned down third contract offer at West Ham,” he wrote. “There’s still no agreement – Rice has always been committed, but he’s now open to a move this summer.

“West Ham insist he’s untouchable as David Moyes said – but Declan Rice won’t sign a new deal.”

Bombshell.

This is the news that we were all dreading, and it looks as though it is finally happening.

Rice will always give his all for the club, we have no doubts about that, and this is slightly expected given his want for progression and all the talks surrounding it.

Moyes has been doing all he can to put together the best financial plan, and it must get to a point where money will mean nothing.

Now it is down to the club to decide whether they keep him around for the rest of his contract and risk everything, or just sell him for the money this summer.

Should the latter be decided, there will be a huge windfall of over £100million coming our way and that may be the best call.

We are gutted, and everyone would be lying if they said otherwise.

If Rice is to leave this summer, let’s just hope that we can win the Europa League and go out with a big bang.
