Fabrizio Romano: Crystal Palace could try to snatch Sima away from West Ham
West Ham have opened talks to sign Abdallah Sima, per Slavia Prague boss Jindrich Trpisovsky, but he could be stolen away by Crystal Palace according to Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist, who sometimes appears on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk, reports that the attacker is being lined up by the Eagles amid a big development.
It was confirmed on Tuesday that Roy Hodgson will step down as Palace manager, with Romano suggesting Frank Lampard has been contacted to replace him.
And if that happens, Sima will apparently be on Palace’s shortlist as a summer signing for the new gaffer.
Breaking the news on Twitter, Romano said, “Crystal Palace are still in contact with Frank Lampard and his agente as potential new manager – talks progressing.
“Abdallah Sima from Slavia Praga is among the options as new signings, also in case Lampard will be appointed.”
Bidding war?
This is a negative development but it is not the end of the world, as the Irons still have the advantage in signing 11-goal Sima.
The club has already entered negotiations with the attacker and could wrap up a deal before Palace even make an approach.
However, if Sima wants to wait and assess every option that risks West Ham missing out.
In any case, Palace have not appointed Lamaprd – that will take time if it does happen – and even if he joins he may not actually want Sima.
Palace have a number of strikers and unlike us, they would not be able to offer the 19-year-old European football, which is almost nailed on for West Ham.
As a result, we are confident this deal will progress and Sima will join in the summer.
