FA decide on Mohammed Kudus after West Ham United red card v Tottenham

The FA has charged Mohammed Kudus after his red card for West Ham United in the 4-1 loss against Tottenham.

FA Spokesperson revealed the news via X [22 October] with the forward charged with “allegedly acting in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence he was sent off for.”

Kudus was sent off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for enticing a brawl after hitting out at Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr.

West Ham and Tottenham have also been charged with “failing to ensure that their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way”, the clubs and Kudus have until Thursday [24 October] to respond to the charges.

West Ham United and Mohammed Kudus are in huge trouble with FA

It seemed inevitable charges would arrive in East London for both the Hammers and Kudus after what unfolded in North London at the weekend.

The 24-year-old will serve a three-match ban regardless of the FA charges, meaning Julen Lopetegui will be without his star talisman until after the November international break.

Whether the Spaniard will still be at the helm at the London Stadium when Kudus returns from his suspension remains to be seen, the loss against Tottenham marks his fourth defeat in eight matches for the Irons.

Kudus had just found his goalscoring form in the Premier League, his opener against Spurs was his second consecutive goal, and despite the second-half collapse, there were positive signs to take from the performance.

The match had already been decided when the Ghanian lost his composure and his mistake could ultimately cost his side in what will prove to be a pivotal period for Lopetegui’s future.

With Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Everton ahead, the Hammers must come out on the other side before chaos ensues in East London.

In other West Ham news, Edin Terzic may be the perfect replacement for Julen Lopetegui at the Irons.
