ExWHUemployee: West Ham United still on course to sign Nayef Aguerd

West Ham are still on course to sign Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers fans were left into panic mode after Ouest France reported on 7 June that the deal has been held up by disagreements over bonuses.

However, Ex has shared on Patreon that the deal will go through unless there’s a last-minute change of mind.

Interestingly, Ex also defended his claims that the player was in England recently and that was he was informed by reliable sources.

He said: “A lot of people have used this report to rubbish the idea that Aguerd was ever in England. All I can say is that I was told by many different people that he was. One source is associated with the playing squad, another works at the training ground, one is connected with Moyes and the other knows the chairmen-why all would lie to me I don’t know?! Therefore I think it is fair to say he was in the country, these sources are rarely wrong. I was told he had photos with the shirt, this is quite common. Players do have photos with shirts and then not sign.”

Get it done

In the past, the Hammers have been left red-faced on many occasions where they failed to pull off the deal, despite putting in a lot of effort.

Bolstering the defence is key, and the Hammers must get their act right. Aguerd is a quality player, and he would be a superb addition to the club.

As Ex points out that the deal is not being done, but the Hammers are pretty confident that they have secured the player’s signature.

With the international matches going on, it looks like a smart decision from the Hammers to wait and see if the player doesn’t pick up an injury.

The Hammers are also looking to add a left-back to their squad, and they have earmarked Aguerd’s teammate, Adrien Truffert [L’Equipe].

It will be interesting to see if the Hammers can raid Rennes and sign two of their top players this summer.

The key here is to get the deal(s) done. Hopefully, the Hammers will learn from their past mistakes this term.
