ExWHUemployee: West Ham United not close to signings as of Monday AM

ExWHUemployee has shared that West Ham United are not “close” to any signings on Monday morning with the deadline approaching quickly.

In a Patreon post, the reliable source insisted that nothing was close despite rumours going into overdrive.

Hugo Ekitike is set to join Newcastle today, with the inevitable Jesse Lingard rumours also being shut down once again.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon page (31 January, 10:20 am), Ex shared the latest as of Monday morning at the London Stadium.

“The club are working on a number of deals at the moment but for the time being as of 10:18 and things change very rapidly on transfer deadline day, nothing is close,” he wrote.

Nothing.

Is this really going to happen?

Are we going to go through deadline day with no new signings despite having weeks to get much-needed deals done?

Duje Caleta-Car of Marseille is one defender that has been consistently mentioned, with the Daily Star reporting this morning that a £15million deal had been agreed.

That doesn’t look to be the case, based on Ex’s latest update regarding incomings at the London Stadium in the next 12 hours.

Of course, things move very quickly, especially on deadline day, but Rob Newman and his team are going to have to put their foot on the gas, sooner rather than later.

We have seen all of this talk about huge bids over £50million being placed in the past few days, but that means nothing if they are for players who are unrealistic targets.

Let’s hope for some progression in the coming hours.
