ExWHUemployee: West Ham have launched bid for Darwin Nunez, release clause is £100million

West Ham United have launched a mega-bid to try and sign Benfica attacker Darwin Nunez, according to ExWHUemployee.

In a Patreon post, the reliable source has reported that the Uruguay international would be keen on a move, but the chances of a deal are “small” given he is in South America.

It is shared that Nunez has a £100million release clause, and a bid in excess of £50million would be needed by the Irons.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon (30 January, 7:37 pm), Ex shared the latest on any potential swoop.

“Of the five offers that we have reported we believe that one is for Darwin Nunez of Benfica,” he wrote. “This bid has been submitted today and is said to be of significant value.

“The player is meant to be keen on the move but the chances of it happening are said to be “small”. If the club pull this off at the last minute it will be a significant coup however at this late stage things will have to move at a rapid rate to be completed as he is currently on international duty with Uruguay.

“The player is 22 and very highly rated with a very good goals record which Benfica will be reluctant to sell. He has a release clause of £100m and it is thought a bid in excess of £50m will be needed to sign the player.”

Wow.

This is what it is all about.

If you’d have said that the Irons would be throwing more than £50million bids at players in January, most of us would have laughed.

The only downside is the logistics of this deal, with it currently looking impossible to complete at this moment in time.

Hammers officials would likely have to have been on a flight to Uruguay already to get there to sort out paperwork and his medical if a move was likely.

With Nunez being keen on a move, having staff in place just in case in South America would be a smart decision.

This one is going to go down to the very wire, and if it is to get the green light, we could even see an announcement past the 11 pm deadline.

Keep your eyes peeled, Irons, it’s going to be a long day.
