ExWHUemployee: West Ham not close to any signing on deadline day
ExWHUemployee expects agents to throw players around but claims that West Ham are not close to signing anyone on deadline day.
The Hammers appeared to be closing in on a move for Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car, but that seems unlikely, as things stand.
The club will only sign players who are better than what they currently have and thus far, they’ve not identified any backup option.
Via his personal Twitter account, Ex responded “At the moment nothing is close” to a fan asking about the club’s transfer activity.
He also wrote, “There is always hope a last minute deal presents itself on transfer window and things have happened later than this but it’s very very unlikely at moment. Agents will be throwing players around but policy been all window ‘only if they are better than what we have’.”
Shame
West Ham have known about what they want for ages and it’s surprising that until the last day nothing has materialised.
It’s shameful given how they wanted to challenge for the top four, not signing anyone in January makes that almost impossible.

It also does not send the right message to the likes of Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen about the club’s ambitions.
They may reconsider their Hammers future because the club just don’t seem serious on taking things over the line and to the next level.
At this point, even any agent recommendation will do but someone desperately needs to walk through the door before 11pm.
