ExWHUemployee: West Ham looking at other targets after Nikola Milenkovic
West Ham United are not closer to getting a deal done for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers insider has provided an update on the club’s pursuit of the 23-year-old Serbian international on Patreon, insisting reports that the pricing structure of the deal has been changed are false.
West Ham manager David Moyes is now considering other options, with talks for Milenkovic still very much unresolved.
Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said: “A report has emerged that we have changed the pricing structure of the Milenkovic deal by offering a million more.
“I don’t believe that this story is accurate. I have verified it by a couple of sources today as I was conscious the story may have came out since I last sort information.
“It appears not to be true and that the deal is still at deadlock, as of now the manager is looking at other targets. This could of course change again but this is the current play-my word what a frustrating window to report on!!”
Time to move on?
Getting a deal done for Milenkovic has proven very difficult for us, and we have a feeling the club are ready to move on.
Ideally, West Ham are likely to end up with just one new centre-back this summer, and it is increasingly looking likely that it would not be the Serie A man.
A move for Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma is still on the cards, and Moyes could prefer to get the France international.
He has the Premier League experience and would slot into the team right away without the need to adapt to the demands of the top-flight or style of play.
However, we would not be surprised if West Ham end up with a new name entirely in the end.
Moyes has hit the jackpot signing some hidden gems since his return to the London Stadium, and the club could be looking to make similar additions to the backline.
We are likely going to play the Newcastle United game with Issa Diop and Craig Dawson, but we definitely need to get in a new centre-back before the transfer window shuts, and we have to get this decision right.
