ExWHUemployee: West Ham fear Nayef Aguerd may be ruled out until World Cup

West Ham are reportedly fearing that their summer signing Nayef Aguerd could be out until the start of the World Cup.

According to ExWHUemployee, he underwent an operation on his ankle and the initial prognosis was that he could miss anything from 4-12 weeks.

However, the club fear that it could be longer and there is pressure on them given the fact that Issa Diop wants out and Angelo Oggonna is only just recovering from his injury.

Ex wrote, “This is a big blow for the club with Diop supposedly keen to move to Fulham, Dawson currently injured and Ogbonna only just returning to fitness. With recent centre back injuries the recoveries have always been quicker than expected so we hope this is the case with the Moroccan international.

“The club are fearful that the player could be out until the World Cup and that we won’t see him before this. We are praying for a quicker recovery than expected but either way, this is disappointing news for the club and fans.”

Rotten luck

West Ham have had a bit of rotten luck with injuries and history has repeated itself again with Aguerd’s injury.

The Hammers looked strong and ready to go for another European finish in this upcoming season and even signed the centre-back they wanted.

However, it seems like they will now have to wait for half a season before he can actually play a game for them.

Injuring himself in pre-season, Aguerd will now have to spend weeks on the treatment table and there is hope that he recovers sooner than expected.

We’ve seen Ogobonna bounce back quicker have a long-term layoff and the doctors and physios will have to do the best in order to get him back in action sooner rather than later.
