ExWHUemployee: West Ham expected to make offer for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse
West Ham are reportedly expected to make an offer for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse for a potential summer move.
According to ExWHUemployee, the Englishman is on the radar at the London Stadium and the Hammers are likely to formalise their interest soon.
West Ham are believed to be looking for a new midfielder after Mark Noble’s retirement and Alex Kral’s expected return to Spartak Moscow.
Ex wrote, “Ward-Prowse a target and an offer expected to go in.”
Having a set-piece specialist at the club is never a bad thing, especially if he is of the calibre of Ward-Prowse.
The Southampton midfielder has been recognised as an equivalent or arguably better free-kick taker than Manchester United legend David Beckham.
Beckham even took to Instagram to wax lyrical over the 27-year-old Saints ace.
He wrote, “Looking forward to it mate. Another great one today. 4 more to go” after Ward-Prowse admitted that the former England midfielder was his inspiration.
David Moyes prioritises set pieces and having Ward-Prowse along with players north of 6 feet tall is only going to benefit the Hammers.
With Southampton languishing in the bottom half and West Ham competing in Europe for the second season in a row, it’s a fairly easy decision for Ward-Prowse and we expect him to be at the London Stadium before the window shuts.
