ExWHUemployee: West Ham could sign Alex Oxlad-Chamberlain on loan this summer

West Ham could sign Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers are looking to add to their options in the middle of the park, and have been linked with a host of names, including Jesse Lingard, Matheus Pereira and Ross Barkley.

It’s understood that should moves for the aforementioned players fail to materialise then the Hammers could look to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan.

Worth a punt?

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s certainly not a name that will get too many Hammers fans excited, but we’re in desperate needs of bodies in midfield, and if there’s no once else we can sign, then he’s probably best suited to join.

Ex mentions that the club are only considering signing him on a loan, which is the wise thing to do.

He’s suffered from numerous injuries ever since his Arsenal days, and even when fit he’s not been the most consistent of players.

What he brings to the side is that work-rate that sees him put in the hard yards off the ball.

He’s pretty versatile and can play as a wing-back and a winger along with his preferred advanced midfield position.

Chamberlain’s also got the ability to take players on and beat them with his raw pace – something that none of our central midfield players have got in their arsenal.

He’s also a physical presence on the ball and when push comes to shove can be counted on to get stuck in and put his body on the line for the team.

He’s also been labelled ‘phenomenal’ by Paul Merson on Sky Sports’ ‘The Debate’ show [11/11/19].

That said, we’re hoping that we sign someone who can give us the end product as it’s something we’ve been lacking.

Lingard or Pereira would be ideal, but we’ll settle for Chamberlain as a last resort.
