ExWHUemployee: West Ham confident of signing Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd
West Ham are reportedly confident of getting a deal done for Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd after talks with him.
According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers held talks of a positive nature with him and while things can change, they’re optimistic of signing the 26-year-old.
The Morocco international is a tall defender who’s also good with the ball at his feet – perfectly fitting David Moyes’ blueprint.

Ex wrote, “Talks with Nayef Aguerd and Rennes have progressed well and I have been told that the club are confident of signing him. Anything can happen and it is important that people understand that things can change, as they often do.
“In the case of Aguerd he is fits Moyes’ height requirements, as well as having pace and good ball distribution. Rennes also have other options that we have looked at too.”
Sign him soon
Aguerd is a player that the Hammers have been looking at since last summer.
If they’re still going in for him, then obviously he’s had a good season and still impresses the club hierarchy, along with Moyes.
It was imperative that a club signed a centre-back in January, but as that didn’t happen, the summer is the next best time to do so.
Holding talks with potential new signings before the window even opens should be seen as proactive behaviour from the Hammers, which is not something that happens too often.
Hopefully, the 26-year-old has no qualms about moving to London Stadium and that the club can get that deal over the line as soon as possible.
