ExWHUemployee shares what ‘top source’ tells him about West Ham United hiring Graham Potter

ExWHUemployee has shared an update on the possibility of West Ham United looking to hire Graham Potter as their new manager.

The former Brighton boss was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday (2 April) after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

Ex has since revealed (West Ham Way, 4 April) his “top source” at the London Stadium has told him the general feeling from the club hierarchy towards the 47-year-old is not overly positive.

“The feedback was not so good on Potter with the top source within the club stating the general feeling is he was massively helped with his recruitment at Brighton by his backroom staff and that his time there may have given people an inaccurate perception of the manager,” said the reliable Hammers source.

Strange

For the board to have made their mind up on Potter already is a fairly bold move and to say he was “massively” helped whilst at Brighton is a little unfair. His team at the Amex consistently created numerous chances and that couldn’t have been solely down to the club’s recruitment.

In fact, the majority of West Ham fans would be excited if Potter did take the job at the London Stadium. The football under David Moyes has been, on the whole, extremely underwhelming and many would like a change at the end of the season irrespective of the outcome of the campaign.

For now, it seems the board are sticking behind the Scot and it would be a massive surprise if he was relieved of his duties between now and the end of the season. Next up is a tough test against Newcastle United on Wednesday and the Hammers will have to dramatically improve on their win over Southampton if they want to pick up a vital three points.
