ExWHUemployee shares update on West Ham United contract talks with Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen

Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen are no closer to signing new contracts with West Ham United this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers have been locked in talks over fresh terms for their three star men as speculation continues about their futures at the club.

But speaking on The West Ham Way podcast [May 30], Ex says that talks with midfielder Soucek are ongoing but ‘not going too well’, while admitting there hasn’t been much progress with winger Bowen or star man Rice either.

“Soucek’s talks are still ongoing, but not going too well at the moment,” he said. “Bowen is another one in talks.

“Declan Rice is obviously ongoing but not looking any closer to signing at this point. We’re going to see where it goes with that, and hopefully those players will sign new deals. But at this point, as I say, it’s quite far away.”

Blow

Bringing in new players during the transfer window is obviously the priority, but if they are to lose key players during a stage where they’re trying to strengthen then it will only send them backwards.

David Moyes is said to be willing to let Soucek leave, but that seems like it would be an error after how important he’s been since joining despite an underwhelming campaign last year.

Rice’s situation is well know and it would be more of a surprise if that were to swing in the Irons’ favour, but as for Bowen the club need to tie him down to fresh terms after his importance to the side increased last season.

Bowen hit double figures for goals and assists in the Premier League last season and is now the first-choice attacker in the team, and is unsurprisingly attracting interest from elsewhere.

While there’s no rush as he has plenty of time on his current deal, tying him down to fresh terms means it’s even less of a worry and the club can be in the driving seat over the next few years too.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are keen to sign this ‘technically gifted’ ace but he could cost them £60m
