Price tag claim shared as West Ham United eye Piero Hincapie transfer

West Ham are keen on securing the services of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie in this summer window, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable London Stadium insider wrote on his Patreon on Wednesday (2 August) that the Ecuador international, who played at the 2022 World Cup has a high price tag.

It’s also understood that the Hammers will have to beat a number of teams in order to secure the 21-year-old’s services.

Ex wrote, “An ambitious option but one that Tim Steidten knows very well is Piero Hincapie, the Ecuadorean plays for his former club Bayer Leverkusen and Steidten was instrumental in bringing him to the club. The Germans are expected to have a high price tag and West Ham know they face strong competition for the versatile player who can play left back, left wing back and centre back.”

Interesting

Hincapie is like Thilo Kehrer as he can offer a solution in different positions for David Moyes and be an important utility player.

He knows that he can grow only so much at Bayer and if he is to test himself and take his game to the next level, a Premier League move will suit him.

He’s one of the top young defenders in the Bundesliga so undoubtedly the German club will want a decent fee in exchange for his services.

However, after the Declan Rice sale, money is there to be spent by the West Ham board and this could be a good option.

With Aaron Cresswell likely to leave, he can be the backup or even fight for a starting berth with Emerson at left-back.

It remains to be seen whether or not his price tag dissuades the Hammers from even making a move this summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
