ExWHUemployee shares Lucas Paqueta update as he misses West Ham United v Dag and Red amid Newcastle links

ExWHUemployee has delivered an update on the reported Newcastle target Lucas Paqueta as he is missing from the matchday squad for the West Ham v Dag & Red clash.

The reliable Hammers insider claims [22 July] that the Brazil international is doing fitness work with some of the players that flew to Australia.

Claret and Hugh claimed on 15 July that Newcastle had made an enquiry to sign the 25-year-old this summer.

Ex wrote on Twitter, “Doing some fitness work with some of the players who went to Australia.”

Hope he stays

Paqueta’s reason to miss the game was one related to his fitness and not a potential transfer away from West Ham, so that’s good news.

However, if Newcastle are hell-bent on signing him, they are not likely to go away without a fight and will test the midfielder’s resolve.

Paqueta took some time to adapt to life in the Premier League, but towards the back-end of the season, he showed just how important a signing he was.

West Ham

David Moyes will want to do everything in his power to keep him at the club as Declan Rice is gone and he would not want to lose two of his best midfield players.

In fact, whatever new players are now being targeted must be looked at so as to bring the most out of Paqueta as he’s a supremely talented midfielder who was brought in for a lot of money last summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
