ExWHUemployee shares if West Ham United want to sign Sassuolo talisman Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham United have been told that Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca wants to remain in Italy, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable source has reported that the Irons are aware of the 23-year-old, but did not make him one of their top targets for this summer transfer window.

It is suggested that Arsenal were also in the race and even had a bid rejected, with top Italian teams said to be in for his services making a move likely, just not to the Premier League.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon page on Friday evening [03 June], Ex shared that even the likes of Arsenal have been turned away from a deal.

“I asked around for confirmation of whether we had interest in Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo,” he wrote.

“The 23-year-old 6 foot 5 forward is someone the club is aware of but have been told the forward wants to remain in Italy. Arsenal have already seen a bid rejected for this reason.

“The forward has already played for 6 clubs and wants to join a big Italian team to cement his place in the national squad having made his debut in September 2021.  Top Italian teams are said to be in for him and a move to them is his preferred choice and he wasn’t our first choice target anyhow.”

Not top.

It is important not to waste your time in the transfer window, with our struggles over recent years proof of that.

The Irons failed to do much in the last January window, but late bids for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha made them look busy, something that didn’t go down too well at the London Stadium.

Rob Newman will have been working on a list of targets with David Moyes, with it essential that we finally bring in competition for Michail Antonio, having failed to do so since Sebastien Haller left to Ajax.

This is another name off the list, though, and it appears that we are just crossing strikers off, rather than actually progressing with any deal at this stage.

Nayef Aguerd looks set to solve our defensive issues, and then it is critical that we immediately move on to options in midfield and the final third to really fix up this squad.
