ExWHUemployee shares Alphonse Areola injury update ahead of Tottenham Premier League clash
Alphonse Areola is back in training for West Ham ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham, according to ExWHUemployee.
The summer signing was due to return to action against Derby in the FA Cup. However, the 29-year-old missed the game in the East Midlands.
Areola is now expected to return to action in the Hammers’ FA Cup clash against Manchester United on 1 March.

“There’s positive news with Areola with the player now back in training. It’s looking likely he’ll be returning soon and should be starting for the game at Old Trafford in a couple of weeks,” said ExWHUemployee (relayed by West Ham Way, 15 February)

Areola’s injury has been a blow to the Hammers and David Moyes will be delighted to call upon the World Cup winner once again. Łukasz Fabiańsk has potentially played more minutes than the West Ham boss would’ve liked considering his age.
He has been an immense servant for the Irons over a number of years, but is certainly entering the latter stages of his career and will potentially need to be replaced in the summer. Moyes’ injury situation is looking fairly negative at the moment.

Maxwel Cornet and Kurt Zouma are long-term absentees and there are also doubts over Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd ahead of their trip to Spurs on Sunday (19 February). Lucas Paqueta also has an issue after suffering a potential shoulder injury in the draw against Chelsea.
This weekend promises to be massive in the relegation dogfight. Everton and Leeds face off at Goodison Park which could see the Hammers put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a positive result.
