ExWHUemployee shares £30m+ Eddie Nketiah news at Arsenal in West Ham United transfer update

West Ham would have to fork out between £30-40million if they were to revive their interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers were linked with the striker on a free transfer before he signed a new contract with the Gunners in June 2022.

Nketiah managed only four Premier League goals as the Gunners fell away in the title race, though, and reportedly may be put for transfer by Arsenal.

Writing on his Patreon, ExWHUemployee explained the Hammers situation: “Interestingly Arsenal have apparently said that Eddie Nketiah could be available and he is also someone that we have liked in the past.

“Although his goals return for Arsenal last year wasn’t strong and this could have change our minds, particularly as he was a free before and is now being valued at £30-£40m which would obviously not be as appealing.”

Nketiah would be a gamble

With Gianluca Scamacca reportedly on his way back to Serie A with Roma, West Ham are likely to be in the market for more firepower this summer.

Danny Ings arrived from Aston Villa in January, but managed only two Premier League goals in 17 top-flight outings for the Hammers.

A year ago, Nketiah would have represented a solid signing for West Ham and at the age of 24 is still young enough to fulfil his prodigious talent.

But Nketiah hardly set the league alight last season, and he had ample opportunity to do so after Gabriel Jesus sustained a knee injury but a return of only four top-flight goals is hardly a ringing endorsement.

A price of £30-40m looks steep on the surface. The Hammers are likely to get a significant outlay from the sale of Declan Rice – likely to Arsenal – but it would be wise to take their time to get the right player in up top.
